From Puerto Rico to the World: How Jeanmark Rodriguez is Scaling His Business with EngineEars

Location: Puerto Rico
Specialties: Mixing & Mastering (Urban, Reggaeton, Trap, Rock, Worship)

From Guitarist to Engineer

Jeanmark Rodriguez’s journey into audio engineering began in 2006 when his uncle gifted him an old computer loaded with FL Studio. At first, he didn’t understand much about production, but he knew he’d found something he could pursue for life. By college, his passion had evolved from recording himself on an iPad to investing in his first interface, microphones, and home setup.

In 2017, he took his skills to the next level at Columbia Central University in Caguas, Puerto Rico, studying audio engineering professionally. He trained at one of Puerto Rico’s top studios, learning from engineers with over 20 GRAMMYs, and steadily built his own business.

Breaking into the Industry

While he worked with various artists, Jeanmark’s career shifted when he met a well-known pastor and record label owner, who invited him to mix and master for their Christian label, Remnant Music Records. This opened doors to projects in hip hop, trap, reggaeton, and rock, and expanded his reach to clients across Puerto Rico and the U.S.

Discovering EngineEars

Initially using Fiverr, Jeanmark found the platform limiting—especially having to start at low rates to compete. When he discovered EngineEars through MixedByAli’s Instagram, it immediately clicked:

“It was made for us. Everything was direct, professional, and started at a fair price. I moved all my clients over.”

EngineEars’ built-in features like timestamped comments, easy file management, and integrated calendar bookings streamlined his workflow. He even began routing all local Puerto Rican clients through the platform.

One of Jeanmark’s favorite projects on EngineEars is “Digno” by Genesis Zoar—a rock ballad/worship hybrid with a full choir. Working closely with the producer, he brought the client’s vision to life:

“They wanted it big but intimate. I studied their style before mixing to make sure I nailed it.”
